Gaspereau Valley Fibres | Gaspereau, NS

Just outside of Wolfville is Gaspereau Valley Fibres. I lived in Wolfville for 5 years, but since I didn't knit then I was tragically unaware of the glory of this farm that lay just out of reach. Since I discovered that this is one of Nova Scotia's finest yarn shops I've been waiting with anticipation to get there.

I want one JUST LIKE IT.

Between my general travels and previous visit to Have A Yarn, I'm pretty much maxed out on both yarn and discretionary spending these days, but I still picked up 2 skeins of squishy black local alpaca, a set of (half-off!) bamboo straights, a set of HiyaHiya 9" circs so I can get in on the new sock/mitten knitting hotness, and a glorious skeepskin I've been reveling in ever since.

I read a few unsavory reviews of the shop's service once I got home so I feel I should say that the shop lady was very nice, only talked to me as much as I wanted to be talked to (my preference is to be acknowledged when I come in and then mostly left alone, though we did have a conversation after I'd examined everything in the store about 12 times).

Also, they have a farm.
